Pyrogallol is an organic compound with the formula C6H3(OH)3.  It is a white, water-soluble solid although samples are typically brownish because of its sensitivity toward oxygen.[1]  It is one of three isomeric benzenetriols.

1.In metal corrosive-resistant coatings,pyrogallol can enhance coating anticorrosion and cohesivenss,after pyrogallol and iron chelation on the surface of metal,it can form a layer of solid film,It can have the effect of inhibiting oxidation.
2.In dyeing industry,pyrogallol used in manufacture of azo dyes,anthraquinone dyes,xanthene dyes,etc.with pyrogallol and dihydroxy phenyl sulfone condensation,can get yellow brown dyes,it's a good dye of dyed fur and leather.
3.In oil industry,pyrogallol in alkaline solution can quickly remove mercaptan in gas.it's the most simple and easy way in gas mercaptan technology.
4.In the plastic industry,with pyrogallol and formaldehyde condensation can be made into oxidation,reducted of exchange resin.
5.In the defense industry,pyrogallola and lead salt as stabilizer in rocket fuel.it can make burning smooth,prevent explosion or flame-out phenomenon.
6.In pharmaceutical industry,pyrogallol can be used for production of cardiovascular disease and viral hepatitis treatment drugs,it also is the anti-oxidation stabilizer of coenzyme Q10,it's the important adjuvant material of treatment of tinea medicine 8-methyl scurfpea fruit, also it's the important intermediates of synthetic treatment angina pectoris drug and alzheimer's drugs.
